WIND POWER TECHNOLOGY
Like all sources of energy, wind generated
electricity has obvious and immediate advantages with few disadvantages. Knowing what the drawbacks are verses the
advantages of wind electricity will help you to determine if electricity from the wind is right for you and your
family.
With the wind power technology of a wind
turbine you can generate electricity from the wind free as long as there is a steady flow of wind
available.
Wind is not only free but is also a renewable
source of energy without creating any harmful emissions making it a clean alternative energy
source.
This gives wind power electricity a major
advantage over fossil fuel plants that provide electricity to most homes now.
The damage to the earth that has been caused by
polluting and non renewable energy sources can be lessened as people turn to nature’s renewable and clean energy
sources such as solar and wind generated electricity. The fact is, in different regions of the United States, large wind turbine electricity plants are
being built.
The Horse Hollow wind energy center in Texas
powers over 220,000 homes in that area with over 420 wind turbine towers.
Additionally, the coastal areas are being
looked at for additional wind turbine electricity centers to provide larger areas with clean and efficient
wind power electricity.
The obvious advantage of wind electricity is
the cost effectiveness after the initial installation investment.
The next advantage widely seen is the lack of
fossil fuels or imported oil. The importing of foreign oil is a major part of the national budget and the prices
seem to be rising exponentially.
This makes wind generated electricity a major
consideration for many individuals and the nation at large as we search for alternative energy
sources.
Wind turbine farms are located in areas where
the wind is abundantly available to satisfy a continuous demand for low cost wind electricity.
Some of the wind power electricity farms are
open to making business arrangements with farmers to rent land to put the towers on and will supply the farm with
free use of the wind turbine electricity as well.
This works well for the individuals with the
right location but lacking the initial investment capital to cover the cost of the installation.
The noticeable disadvantages of electicity from
the wind are the unsightly turbines that obstruct the view and the noise that they create. Environmentally;
however, these are small prices to pay for the benefits to the earth as well as the benefits to our
budget!
