SOLAR ENERGY
- SOLAR SYSTEMS
Solar energy is the light and the heat that is emitted by the sun in
the form of thermal radiation. The technology involved in collecting solar energy as well as putting that
energy to use is in the form of solar systems.
Some of the common solar systems include solar panels that collect the
sunlight and is used to heat air and water, solar cells thatcan charge
batteries, solar lighting for garden lights and solar photovoltaic that converts solar energy into
electricity.
These are just a
few of the technologies that have become common today.
To fully benefit from the sustainable energy
of the sun as well as being able to choose what solar systems may be right for you it is necessary to understand
solar energy and obtain a few facts.
However, fully understanding the conversion
of the sun’s energy into sources we can use is often more than what we really want or need to
know.
It is a fact
that all life is dependant on the sun and without solar energy life could not exist. It is also a fact that the
energy we obtain from the sun is a clean, sustainable and environmentally
sound.
Solar energy is
available to everyone on the planet; however, solar systems need to be produced and made available to fully benefit
from the greatest sustainable energy source we have.
One of the most
inexpensive as well as effective solar systems available for the home is solar panels. Solar systems for water
heating have been used in the United States for over a hundred years and although the technology has changed the
basic concept is the same.
Installing a unit to harness and convert
solar energy not only reduces our dependence on oil, gas and coal driven heating but also reduces the cost of the
conventional heating methods.

Solar energy can provide heat, lighting and electricity for homes as well as commercial use and
many solar systems are being created and disbursed around the globe to utilize this, our greatest sustainable
energy.
We are soon to see a decline in the usage and
dependence on oil and coal which contribute to global warming with CO2 emissions as we increase our uses of natural
and sustainable energy sources.
Additionally, solar systems are expanding as we progress and explore
our natural resources and can be used to power vehicles and explored in the use to power aircrafts as
well.
An airplane has been successfully designed,
built and tested by NASA that is powered by the sun entirely.
As we continue we will see additions to the
progress we have made in solar power.
Currently available are solar battery
chargers, flashlights, calculators, radios, attic fans, backpacks that will recharge batteries and small devices as
well as chargers for cell phones and more.
Many homes today have solar panels on their
roofs for heat and hot water as well as a yard with solar yard lights. These devices are becoming more widely
available as well as affordable and the growth will continue as the demand
increases.
